‘Parking place for defectors’: Congress targets Amit Shah over formation of Arunachal Janata Party

NEW DELHI: Congress on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Union home minister Amit Shah over the formation of a new political outfit, the Arunachal Janata Party. In a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh shared a “public notice” and alleged that the new party had been formed in a manner similar to the revival of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India by Shah as a “parking place” for TMC defectors.“Undoubtedly, a move by the self-styled Chanakya who revived an unknown Nationalist Citizens Party of India as a parking place for TMC defectors,” Jairam Ramesh said.“There are 734 such registered unrecognised political parties in India that had a reported income of over Rs 1,100 crore in 2024-25. Half of that amount went to 29 such parties in Gujarat alone,” he added.
