Patna: A 22-year-old woman preparing for the Bihar Police recruitment examination was allegedly attacked with a knife after she refused a youth’s repeated advances in Muzaffarpur’s Motipur police station area on Tuesday.The woman has accused one Ravi Kumar of stalking and harassing her, threatening her with rape and death, and attacking her at her home. Police have registered an FIR based on her complaint and launched raids to arrest the accused, officials said on Wednesday.According to the woman’s complaint, she has been preparing for the Bihar Police recruitment examination and regularly goes out for running practice. She alleged that Ravi had been following and harassing her for the past 15-20 days and repeatedly pressuring her to talk to him.She further alleged that Ravi threatened to rape her and kill her brother and father if she refused to talk to him or accept his proposal.The alleged incident took place on Tuesday when the woman was returning home after her running practice. According to her complaint, Ravi stopped her near Dariya Chhapra Pokhar and told her that he loved her. When she refused to speak to him, he allegedly threatened her with rape.The woman said she managed to escape and reach home, but alleged that Ravi followed her there. She further alleged that he abused and assaulted her and attacked her on the head with a knife during the altercation.Hearing her screams, neighbours gathered at the house, following which the accused allegedly fled. Locals took the injured woman to the Community Health Centre in Motipur, where she received treatment.Motipur SHO Sanjeev Kumar Singh reached the spot after being informed about the incident and began an investigation. Police subsequently registered an FIR against Ravi based on the woman’s written complaint.Muzaffarpur SDPO West-1 Suchitra Kumari said the woman alleged that Ravi repeatedly harassed her near Dariya Chhapra Pokhar and assaulted her when she opposed his advances.“The woman has stated that when she passed near Dariya Chhapra Pokhar, a youth named Ravi attempted to harass her. When she resisted, she alleged that the accused assaulted her,” the SDPO said.She said the allegations were being investigated and police were examining the circumstances and sequence of events leading to the alleged attack. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, she added.
