Gadkari assures Centre’s support for infrastructure projects in Bihar

Patna: Union minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday assured that the Centre would extend full support to the state govt in accelerating road and other infrastructure projects. Addressing the ‘Rising Bihar Investor Summit 2026: The Emerging Investment Destination of India’ in Patna, Gadkari said expanding infrastructure, improved connectivity, skilled human capital and a strengthening investment ecosystem were driving Bihar’s growth.CM Samrat Choudhary invited domestic and international investors to invest in Bihar, assuring them of govt support and security. He said infrastructure was being strengthened to support industrial expansion, while the focus remained on creating jobs in the state and reducing migration.Choudhary said products manufactured in Bihar meeting prescribed quality standards would receive preference in govt procurement, with a proposal to purchase 25% of eligible products. He introduced the mantra of ‘Build’ and ‘Believe’ to boost industry.He announced an industrial corridor along the Kosi river, saying around 1.5 lakh acres across its 287-km stretch could be used for industries. He also said a silt policy had been formulated to use dredged silt and soil in road construction and other projects.The CM said Bihar’s road network had grown from around 8,000km to approximately 1.5 lakh km. He highlighted manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, food processing, tourism and hospitality as key investment areas. Bihar has more than 100 industrial areas and offers fiscal assistance, land concessions, employment support and single-window clearance.Bihar industries minister Shreyasi Singh and road construction department minister Kumar Shailendra were present.Ropeway service between Sonepur and Patna soon: CM Samrat Choudhary said a ropeway over the Ganga connecting Sonepur and Patna would commence soon. “Once completed, the ropeway will allow people to travel directly from Patna to Hariharnath (Sonepur) by crossing over the Ganga,” he announced.The project will be developed under the PPP model. A similar ropeway will connect Ajgaivinath Dham in Sultanganj with Aguwani Ganga Ghat in Bhagalpur.
