NEW DELHI: A power cut midway through a cricket match need not mean a blank screen. Indian electronics brand NVY on Monday launched a television with an in-built battery that, it claims, can keep viewing going for up to three hours during an outage. The Power+ LED TV’s backup system is designed to power not just the screen but also a connected set-top box and Wi-Fi modem, the company said. The feature addresses a practical gap: keeping a television switched on is of little use if the devices supplying its content lose power.“Power interruptions should not mean an interruption to family time, entertainment or access to important live content,” said Ricky Gosain, chairman and CEO of Reach NVY Pvt Ltd.“Our R&D team began with a simple question: why should consumers need separate power-backup solutions just to continue watching television?” he said.NVY said the product was conceived and developed in India by its in-house research team, integrating backup into the television instead of requiring a separate solution. It linked the launch to its focus on locally developed electronics under Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
