3 held, 108 passports seized in raid on consultancy firm

Patna: Police arrested three people after raiding a travel consultancy office on Exhibition Road in Patna and recovered 108 passports belonging to people from Bihar and other states, along with fake documents and forged letters used to facilitate overseas employment.The raid was conducted on Saturday at the office of a consultancy service in Chandi Vyapar Bhavan under Gandhi Maidan police station area. According to police, they had received confidential information that the consultancy was allegedly preparing passports using forged documents for people from Bihar and other states.The police also received information that people whose passports were prepared through the office were allegedly provided fake experience certificates in the names of various institutions and forged medical reports before being sent abroad in return for large sums of money.During the raid, police arrested the office owner and operator, Tanveer Alam, a resident of Mahnar in Vaishali district, along with his associates Tahir Anwar of Jehanabad and Tausif Alam of Gardanibagh in Patna.Police seized 108 passports, fake documents of various institutions, slips for pathological tests, fake interview letters, three laptops, one CPU and five mobile phones from the office. They also recovered Rs 1.44 lakh in Indian currency, 210 UAE dirhams, seven Omani riyals and 1,000 Saudi Arabian riyals.Gandhi Maidan SHO Akhilesh Mishra confirmed the raid and arrests. He said an FIR had been registered and further investigation was underway. Police are examining the seized documents and electronic devices and are questioning the arrested suspects to identify others allegedly involved in the network and trace their links.
