CUSB VC urges students to turn ideas into market-ready innovations
Central University of South Bihar

Patna: Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) vice-chancellor Kameshwar Nath Singh said innovation must move beyond PowerPoint presentations and reach the marketplace and society, urging students to convert ideas into prototypes, products and viable ventures.Addressing “Idea Innovation Hackathon 1.0”, organised by the innovation committee of the CUSB’s Innovation Council (IIC) in collaboration with the university’s R&D Cell, Singh said the real value of knowledge lay in its practical application.“Students should develop working models to test the feasibility and usefulness of their ideas,” he said while interacting with participants and examining their individual and group projects. Students working on website-based solutions were also advised to build and test prototypes.Singh said every innovation should meet three tests: economic affordability, environmental sustainability and social justification. He said an idea had limited value unless it addressed a genuine social need and was accessible to ordinary people. He also called on students to become job creators rather than job seekers and said promising innovations should be developed into commercially viable products, enterprises or practical solutions.Students presented a range of ideas during the hackathon and received suggestions to improve practical applicability, CUSB PRO Mohammad Mudassir Alam said.
