Patna: The Congress will hold district-level protest demonstrations across Bihar on Tuesday over what it described as the BJP’s “distortion” of the “baap” remark made by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge here on Sunday. The Congress said on Monday the BJP had distorted Kharge’s remarks before holding an “undignified” demonstration against him and burning his effigy. The controversy began on Sunday when Kharge was speaking at the 139th birth anniversary function of Shri Krishna Singh at Bapu Sabhagar. A youth interrupted him, saying, “Modi nahin jayega (Modi will not go).” Kharge replied, “Modi ke baap ko bhi jayega (Modi’s father, too, will go).”The remark drew criticism from Union home minister Amit Shah, defence minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Nitin Nabin.Bihar Congress media department chairman Ajay Kumar Paswan said Tuesday’s protests would oppose the BJP’s “negative politics” and alleged distortion of Kharge’s remarks. State Congress chief Rajesh Ram asked district units to hold disciplined demonstrations.
