Modi winning polls by stealing people’s hearts, not votes: Assam CM

Patna: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted on Wednesday that PM Narendra Modi was winning elections by winning people’s hearts, not through vote theft. He sharply attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the BJP’s ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ rally and padyatra in Purnia.Addressing the gathering, Sarma said Rahul had introduced a new political narrative by alleging vote theft after electoral defeats. “PM Modi is stealing people’s hearts, and that is why he is winning elections,” he remarked.Sarma also defended the SIR process, particularly in the Seemanchal area of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam and questioned the opposition’s objections to removing allegedly ineligible names. Himanta questioned what was wrong with removing the names of “Babar and Aurangzeb from the electoral rolls. Rahul is worried about how he will win elections once the names of Babar and Aurangzeb are removed. I appeal to the Election Commission to conduct a fresh Special Summary Revision (SSR) and to remove such names from the voter list”.Taking a swipe at the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha, he made a controversial remark: “Don’t worry Rahul ji; Samrat ji, Suvendu Adhikari ji and I will together parachute-land you in Bangladesh, and you will definitely win elections over there!”In a lighter vein, Sarma said, “US President Donald Trump, whose Republican Party lost the midterm polls, sought advice this morning from Rahul on how to launch a vote theft campaign in America. Rahul is now the role model for those who lose elections.”Assam CM r challenged Congress’s allegations against EVMs, saying opposition leaders had accepted victories secured through the same machines. Citing state elections, he questioned why EVMs were considered reliable when Congress won in Kerala but allegedly faulty when it lost in Bihar and Assam. He argued that Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra should resign if their party genuinely believed elections conducted through EVMs were compromised. Sarma maintained that the opposition’s allegations reflected frustration over electoral defeats rather than any credible evidence of irregularities.Union minister Nityanand Rai said in Saharsa, “The democratic history of the country has witnessed the Congress’s lust for power, the Emergency, and the tampering with constitutional systems. The Congress-supported INDIA bloc is attempting to destabilize the country by spreading confusion and anarchy.”
