Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Friday said the state govt plans to turn Patna’s waste management system into a revenue-generating model through scientific processing and recycling with a target of earning about Rs 50 crore annually.He made the announcement at a programme at Bapu Tower in Gardanibagh to mark the 157th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the second foundation day of Bapu Tower. Choudhary said Bihar had framed a comprehensive Green Hydrogen Policy to promote clean energy production, attract private investment and reduce the state’s carbon footprint by encouraging sustainable industrial alternatives.Invoking Gandhi’s ideals, the CM said his thoughts should not merely be remembered but reflected in everyday conduct. He urged people to adopt truth, non-violence, cleanliness, service and social harmony to help make Bihar and the country more prosperous and developed.Paying tribute to Gandhi, Choudhary described him as the greatest exponent of truth, non-violence and love. He said Gandhi gave a new direction to India’s freedom movement through moral strength, ideas and extraordinary resolve and, despite wearing only a dhoti, challenged British rule while uniting people for independence.During the event, Choudhary unveiled a bust of Gandhi on the ground floor of Bapu Tower. The bust was created by ceramic artist Padma Shri Brahmadev Pandit. He also launched an online ticketing system and released Satyagraha, a magazine published by Bapu Tower.BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi and building construction department secretary Pranav Kumar also addressed the event, while Bapu Tower director Vinay Kumar welcomed the guests.Choudhary said Bapu Tower is a centre for learning about Gandhi’s life, thoughts, struggles and journey. He said the memorial uses modern technology to present different phases of Gandhi’s life and personality and will help future generations understand his philosophy and contribution.The chief minister also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, saying Gandhi and Shastri inspire simplicity, integrity, duty and national service.
