Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday directed officials to equip govt-run schools with modern facilities and a stronger academic environment, saying students must be prepared effectively for future competitive examinations.Choudhary issued the directions while attending a parent-teacher meeting at Govt Middle School, Ramjichak, under Danapur in Patna district. He said govt schools should function effectively and maintain quality, with academic systems and facilities developed to a level where they can establish a distinct identity.During the visit, the chief minister interacted with students, parents and teachers, and reviewed educational facilities at the Ramjichak school. He sought details on teaching-learning arrangements, student attendance and examination results.Choudhary directed education department officials to prepare a plan from next year to make computer education compulsory in all govt schools. He said connecting students with modern technology was essential and asked officials to arrange one instructor for every two to three schools so that students receive computer education regularly.He said facilities for online teachers and live classes had been provided in model schools at around 700 locations across Bihar to enable students to access quality education through modern methods.Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari and cooperative minister-cum-Danapur MLA Ram Kripal Yadav were also present at the meeting.The chief minister said the objective of parent-teacher meetings was to improve the quality of education in govt schools, ensure teacher availability, secure 100% student attendance and expand school facilities as needed. Regular dialogue between parents and teachers, he said, would help assess children’s academic progress and identify subjects in which students require additional support.Choudhary also reviewed the statewide ‘Seva Chitra’ competition organised under the ‘Mere Sapnon ka Bharat-Seva Chitra’ campaign. He interacted with participating students and took information about drawings made on themes including Viksit Bharat-2047, solar energy, metro train, robot and Sapnon ka Bharat. He appreciated the students’ imagination.Addressing students, Choudhary advised them to study with concentration and attend school regularly to understand the curriculum better. He urged them to set a target of securing more than 90% marks and continue working hard. He said the foundation for a student’s career is laid in Classes 7 and 8, and effort during these years plays an important role in shaping future life.He also advised students to avoid unnecessary mobile phone use and use devices properly for studies when required. He asked them to complete homework regularly, keep practising the curriculum and try to understand lessons in school itself, adding that coaching should be needed only in special circumstances.The chief minister urged parents to share suggestions on improving school facilities, academic systems and the curriculum.
