SC asks Anant to surrender by Dec 1 in murder case
Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh

Patna: The Supreme Court on Friday asked expelled JD(U) MLA from Mokama, Anant Kumar Singh, to surrender by Dec 1 in connection with the Dularchand Yadav murder case.A bench of Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale passed the order while hearing a petition seeking cancellation of the bail granted to Anant by the Patna high court on March 19. The bench also directed Bihar Police to complete the investigation within four months and scheduled the next hearing after that period.Anant was arrested on Nov 1 last year for allegedly orchestrating Yadav’s murder in Oct 2025. According to the FIR lodged at Ghoswari police station, Anant and his aides allegedly dragged Yadav out of his vehicle, shot him in the leg, assaulted him and ran him over with an SUV.Yadav was killed in broad daylight while campaigning in Mokama for Jan Suraaj candidate Priyadarshi Piyush during the 2025 Bihar assembly elections. The petitioner’s counsel argued Yadav’s only fault was campaigning for a rival political party.Anant has denied the allegations, claiming Jan Suraaj supporters attacked his convoy first. Reacting to the Supreme Court order, he said he had full faith in the judiciary and would surrender by the deadline. However, he accused JD(U) MLC Neeraj Kumar of orchestrating the legal action against him.The order comes weeks after JD(U) expelled Anant and his wife, former legislator Neelam Devi, for six years on Oct 24 over anti-party activities. Anant had campaigned for Jan Suraaj candidate Anuj Singh in the recent Bihar legislative council elections.
