Patna: A protester sat inside a cage at Marine Drive on World Vegan Day on Sunday as activists highlighted animal suffering and demanded an end to their exploitation for food, clothing, entertainment, labour and laboratory testing.Chanting, “Their bodies, not ours; their eggs, not ours; their milk, not ours,” protesters questioned the treatment of animals, particularly in the dairy industry. They alleged that dairy production involves separating calves from their mothers, confinement and the abandonment or slaughter of male calves.Organisers Rishika and Muskan called for animals to be recognised as individuals, demanding legal personhood for them and a complete ban on industries exploiting them. They said animals’ inability to vote should not render their suffering politically invisible.
