JD(U) remains strong, Nishant party’s ‘future neta’: Sanjay Jha

Patna: JD(U) national working president and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha on Wednesday hit out at critics who have been writing off the party’s future, saying JD(U) enjoys the “pole position” in Bihar and remains the party around which the politics of any individual or party would revolve. He also described health minister Nishant Kumar, son of JD(U) president and former CM Nitish Kumar, as the party’s “future neta”.Jha made the remarks at the party’s ‘Nitish Dialogue’ function in Hajipur, which focused on the sharing of Ganga waters by other states and the upcoming renewal of the India-Bangladesh treaty on sharing Ganga waters with the neighbouring country.“Right from the last year’s assembly elections, there have been people who have been declaring that the JD(U) is over and it has no future in the state, but the people of the state have vindicated their faith in the JD(U) through the 2024 parliamentary and 2025 assembly elections,” Jha said.“The JD(U) won 12 of the 16 seats it contested in the parliamentary elections and 85 of the 101 seats it contested in the assembly elections,” he said, adding, “The JD(U) is in the heart of people, and it is not only the party of the future, but also the one around which the politics of any party or any individual will revolve.”“Nitish served the state as its CM for 20 years. Now his son Nishant has become health minister and has also shown that he has natural empathy for people like his father. Nishant is the emerging neta of the party, and the party will march ahead under his leadership,” Jha said.On the renewal of the India-Bangladesh treaty on Dec 12 this year, Jha said Bihar’s requirement for Ganga water over the next 50 years should be assured before the treaty is renewed.
