Patna: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) would be holding a two-day ‘Open Hearing and Camp Sitting’ at Gyan Bhawan here on Oct 7 and 8 to hear cases of alleged human rights violations in Bihar, an official said on Monday.On Oct 7, NHRC chairperson Justice V Ramasubramanian and members Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Vijaya Bharathi Sayani will hear cases in the full commission sitting in the presence of complainants and officers concerned of the state.The next day, on Oct 8, the commission will hear cases in two separate benches. The chairperson will hear cases of alleged bonded labour. Simultaneously, a division bench comprising members Justice Sarangi and Sayani will hear cases related to compliance matters and other complaints of alleged violation of human rights.Thereafter, the commission will interact with representatives of civil society organisations, NGOs and human rights defenders. In the concluding session, the commission will hold a meeting of senior officers to discuss important human rights issues pertaining to Bihar.NHRC has been holding ‘camp sittings’ from time to time in various states since 2007 to facilitate easy access to justice for the victims of human rights violations, the official added.
